The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Samal Duggins shared the updates and achievements of the Ministry in his quarter Two press conference for the year 2026. The press conference was held yesterday Wednesday July 15, 2026 at the NEMA conference room.
The theme of the press conference was “Progress You can see. Impact you can feel”. The conference ran for two hours between 9:30 am to 11:00 am. In the press conference Minister Duggins shared the details and updates on the initiative taken by the ministries under his leadership and responsibility.
Duggins stated, “We provided updates on the progress, achievements and key initiatives being undertaken across the ministries and departments under my portfolio”. During the press conference Minster Duggins along with departments officially engaged with the media and had a session of question and answer with them.
Minister Duggins explained that the department under the Agricultural ministry is continuously working advancing and enhancing agricultural production including strengthening the food security across the island. He further shared that the ministry is also efficiently working on empowering entrepreneurs and investing in the creative economy to boost the island’s creative sector.
Minister Samal Duggins also expressed that they felt proud as in the next month (August) the administration will mark their four year anniversary of working for island communities. He mentioned several updates of distribution of fencing materials to the Farmers including expansion of marketing, water security measures (Water Tanks), and hosting of the 31st Annual Agricultural Open Day in the Agriculture department.
Additionally, he also shared the updates on the Marine Department where the department successfully deployed new artificial coral relief and organized informative sessions for the fisheries community. Duggins shared that the progress done within the ministry reflects the ministry’s hard work and commitment of serving best to the public of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Notably, Minister Duggins extended thanks to the media individuals for participating and asking questions to them and continuously working on informing the public. He also acknowledged the efforts of the departments including staff members, leadership teams and key stakeholders across the island ministries and departments.
