St KItts and Nevis hosted the IHF Trophy North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) Beach Handball Championship from April 24–26, 2026, at North Frigate Bay. The nation has made a name for itself in the international beach handball sector with the successful hosting of these events.
The St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins has expressed his delight in the success of the event. He further added that the just concluded International Beach Handball Championship held in St. Kitts has made a positive impact on the economy of the country.
The successful hosting of the event has not only generated economic activity, but also provided international visibility to the twin-island federation as a leading sports destination.
The event saw teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Canada, Cuba, Dominica, Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, the United States, and host country St. Kitts and Nevis, participating in beach handball events.
“Hosting a competition of this level strengthens our push to become a leading sports tourism destination, bringing visitors, which generate economic activity, and international visibility to our Federation,” said Duggins at the closing ceremony of the international event.
He also delivered more remarks at the closing ceremony and congratulated the winners of the just-concluded International Beach Handball Championship. He made the remarks while he was presenting trophies and medals to the top teams after an exciting weekend of competition at the closing ceremony..
He congratulated Team USA, who emerged as the champions of both divisions, Team Puerto Rico, second place in both categories, and Team Mexico finished in the third place.
As a World Cup Qualifier, the teams of USA and Puerto Rico will now advance to Croatia.
To this end, Minister Samal Duggins said that he was proud to have been a part of the event and for lending his support to the event throught the Ministry. He praised the team of St Kitts and Nevis Handball Association for a job well done,” said Minister Duggins.
