Rhapsody of the Sea arrived on the shores of the island for its first cruise call during the tourism off season on Tuesday. The cruise ship is scheduled to make a total of nine calls to the island during the summer months of the year.
These months are traditionally known for its slow tourism footfall and bring lean business to the tourism stakeholders of the country. However, over the last few years, the administration has been working on changing that.
Through summer events, ranging from Music Festival to the restaurant week to other events, the island has been looking into measures to increase the demand for the island among travellers across the globe
The St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) said that the visit of the Rhapsody of the Seas to Port Zante highlights the continued presence and importance of cruise tourism throughout the traditional off-season.
The officials have shared that they are delighted to see the cruise ship arriving on the island for the off season. This is a major success for the tourism industry of the island nation.
The officials have shared that the arrival of the cruise ship highlights the growth of the island. The Rhapsody of the Seas arrived from Antigua this morning with approximately 2,360 passengers and departed late afternoon for Frederiksted, St. Croix.
“The vessel’s arrival marks the first of nine scheduled calls by Rhapsody of the Seas between June and September 2026,” said SCASPA.
SCASPA has announced that the nation is expected to see approximately 20 cruise ship calls to St Kitts Port Zante. The officials have shared that during the summer period, St. Kitts and Nevis continues to strengthen its position as a year-round cruise destination while supporting visitor experiences, local businesses, and generating economic activity.
