The CEO of the St Kitts Tourism Authority, Kelly Fontenelle has announced that they want to target Latin America as a high-potential emerging market. The officials have been dedicated to promoting the destination of St Kitts for all that it can offer to the travellers.

The island has been one of the most popular destinations for travellers who want to explore a slow paced vacation. The CEO of the St Kitts Tourism Authority was attending the 44th Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Authority (CHTA) Marketplace in Antigua.

During this event, she highlighted that she is optimistic about promoting the island and expanding their international footprint. The island has been attracting the attention of the people who want to explore some of the hidden gems in the vacation sector.

The CEO said that the organisation has laid out clear goals and presence as they work to establish a presence in Latin America. The officials have shared that they plan to target travellers who have visa free access to travel to St Kitts and Nevis.

They were prioritising specific countries, business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking, and aligning with local hoteliers.

The CEO also said that the Latin America Market is very important for the tourism sector of the country. The organisation is working actively to get into this market and have done significant preparation and research towards this mandate. The officials have also confirmed that they have met with COPA and have been exploring the collaboration for some years.

COPA flies into St. Martin, as such the organisation is trying to see how they could work with them to get some people from there to St Kitts. Fontenelle said that as such this is an important emerging market for them

The CEO said that connectivity is very important for the people of the organisation as they continue to work for the growth of the destination.

The primary focus of the SKTA is to target the nations whose citizens do not require visas to enter St. Kitts and Nevis. This will increase the chances of the increased arrivals due to the absence of administrative barriers to travel.

The organisation is working on securing partnerships with tour operators in countries like Argentina and Venezuela. They are also finding and negotiating with new regional tour operators looking to expand their portfolios into the eastern Caribbean.
