The MRI building which has been under construction in St Kitts and Nevis for the last few months is close to completion. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, who handles the responsibility for the Ministry of Healt visited the building recently to check on the progress of the construction.
The Minister has shared that they are close to 97% on the construction of the building as per his estimates from his visit. The Prime Minister was proud to announce that the people of St Kitts and Nevis will soon have access to MRI Facilities.
With the construction of the building in the final stages, JNF General will have better healthcare capacity sooner. The Prime Minister has shared some images and glimpses from the event on his social media.
According to the Prime Minister’s recent update on the matter, the people will not have to travel out of the island to get advanced scans. The officials have also shared that the MRI Machine being installed in St Kitts will help in making sure that the cost for healthcare is also reduced,
During his visit, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew met with the contractors of the construction process. They have shared that the construction is going on in a timely manner.
According to the contractors, the building had to be constructed around the specifications of the MRI Machine. This is why they had to get a completely new building constructed to house the machine to be put to use.
The construction will be completed by the end of November, after which the MRI Machine will be brought in. At the time of Prime Minister’s visit, they are waiting for the completion of the room which will be accommodating the generator.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis,, Dr Geoffrey Hanley. He was also accompanied by the acting head matron of the JNF General General Hospital
