Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew spoke to the Freedom FM regarding the development of the MRI building in St Kitts. On August 28, when the Prime Minster sat down for the interview, he highlighted that they are on track for completing the MRI Machine building in the next four weeks.
The construction of the MRI Machine has been a long awaited project and highlights the importance of better healthcare in the country. The Prime Minster of St Kitts and Nevis spoke significantly regarding the development of the healthcare sector in the country during his interview.
The Prime Minister said that they did not have any dedicated infrastructure to install the MRI Machine which forms a crucial part of the country’s healthcare capacity. As such, the authorities had to construct the structure in order to bring the Machine into the JNF General Hospital.
The officials have shared that the structure will be ready in the next few weeks with the members of the community being able to take advantage of the facilities. The MRI Machine is being supplied by Phillips and the company has been keeping complete track of the construction process for the MRI building.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has confirmed that they will be visiting the enclosure for the machine for the final checks once the building is fully constructed. The Minister of Health was proud of the fact that the country will soon be able to offer MRI Services to the people of the country.
He said that people will not have to leave the island for MRI checks and this is set to bring the country’s diagnostic ability to another level. The Prime Minister said that he was proud to see St Kitts joining the list of island nations offering MRI testing capabilities.
The MRI Machine will be beneficial for several members of the community especially in tackling NCDs. People no longer have to travel overseas with their prescription and reports to get these tests done
