Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew toured the construction site of the MRI building along with Attorney General Garth Wilkin on March 4, 2025, Tuesday. It is worth noting that Attorney General Garth Wilkin shared some latest updates about the construction of the machine building which is expected to complete by August 2025.
The construction of the MRI building is an important step in improving the healthcare sector of St Kitts and Nevis as it will feature the MRI machine which will help diagnose several diseases. The PM noted that the machine will create more opportunities for local experts and will advance the medical infrastructure of St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Drew said that the services of the MRI building will empower the health sector of St Kitts and Nevis, offering better healthcare services to the citizens and residents of the twin island nation.
The MRI machine will help detect and manage chronic illnesses at an early stage, which will help improve the health outcomes for the people of St Kitts and Nevis while also creating more job opportunities.
The first publicly advanced MRI machine
Prime Minister Drew said that the completion of the MRI building and installation of the new MRI machine will mark the first publicly owned and most advanced MRI in the country. He further added that this will help foster healthcare services, letting locals access the services without going to the biomedical centre which is located away at the monkey farm.
PM Dr Terrance Drew stated that the services of the machine will be affordable for everyone as it enhances infrastructural development of St Kitts and Nevis.
Installation of CT Scan Machine
An advanced CT scan machine has been installed at the JNF General Hospital to enhance healthcare services and to diagnose life-threatening conditions like stroke, heart diseases, and cancer.
Moreover, training was provided to all the staff members to operate the machine, ensuring long-term sustainability and use of the CT scan machine.
