Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has congratulated the Prime Minister elect of St Vincent and the Grenadines Godwin Friday for his victory in the General Elections.
The congratulatory message appeared on the social media pages of Dr Drew shortly after the formal announcement of the election results in St Vincent and the Grenadines. In his congratulatory message, Dr Drew expressed his sincere appreciation for the remarkable victory after 24 years of being in the opposition.
Dr Drew said that he is looking forward to the collaboration between the two country. He expressed the hope that they will continue to collaborate on issues of importance for the nations of the CARICOM and the OECS.
The Prime Minister has shared that he was delighted to see the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines concluded a successful and fair election procedure. The Prime Minister noted that he was delighted to work with Dr Godwin Friday for the next term at the top of the St Vincent and The Grenadines organizations.
Dr Friday, who had been serving in the opposition for St Vincent and The Grenadines for the last twenty four years has been elected into the government for the 2025-2030 term. The New Democratic Party, under the leadership of Dr Friday secured a clear and historic majority in the SVG Parliament.
The political party secured 14 seats out of the total 15 contested seats. The outgoing Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves is the only ULP candidate to have retained his seat during this election.
This historic landslide victory ends the 24 year tenure for Ralph Gonsalves led United Labour Party which had been in power since 2001. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to pay his tribute to the outgoing Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves.
Former Prime Minister Gonsalves has led St Vincent and Grenadines for more than two decades. His leadership has shaped the modern story of the country.
