Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is visiting the Symbol of Love Monument and Museum Project at Fort Thomas. He is accompanied by members of the cabinet, media and some members of the community.
During his visit to the Fort Thomas Project Site, Dr Drew saw the progress of the project. The Fort Thomas Project is the fifth stop that the Prime Minister took in his media tour. Talking to the members of the media during the visit, Dr Drew said It’s a huge project that is transforming Fort Thomas, the area that used to be a hotel previously.
The Prime Minister, during the visit, highlighted the historical importance of the Fort Thomas site. The officials have shared that preserving the history of the island is also a part of the mandate of the organisation.
Dr Drew said It’s very critically important that we preserve the history of this area while we build it. The administration wants to build a modern facility that has regional, local and international appeal.
The Prime Minister also added that the project is providing employment to locals and at the same time has international experts working on the project from overseas. The Prime Minister said that he was extremely proud of the project and expects that the initiative will bring an influx of jobs for local talent in St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister said that the project is expected to have a tremendous impact on the tourism product of St Kitts and Nevis and the island’s and the image of safety.

This visit is part of the Prime Minister’s initiative of touring capital projects which are in progress under the SKNLP administration across St Kitts. The Prime Minister led media tours of the capital projects across St Kitts started with the tour of the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.
During the first stop, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins.
The officials have shared that the members of the media were able to look at the extensive rehabilitation of the national sporting facility. During the tour, the Ministers shared that the stadium has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, including major improvements to the track, pavilion, lighting, drainage, seating, restrooms and other critical amenities.
The second stop in the Prime Minister-led Media Tour was the Ottley’s Housing Project. The project is approximately 80 percent complete.
The project is part of the government’s housing programme under which the homes are being constructed in all constituencies. The Prime Minister also visited the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School construction site and the Greenhouse Village at Brotherson Estate.
