Dr Terrance drew addressed the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis, highlighting the achievements that the nation has seen under the SKNLP Led administration. He highlighted that in under four years, his administration has worked for the people of the island across sectors.
One of the first initiatives that the Prime Minister lauded his administration for, during his address, was the introduction of the good governance and the transparency legislations including the Integrity in Public Life Bill. This bill made it legally binding for all the members of the administration to declare their money and assets every year.
Dr Drew said this was a major step in transparency and accountability. He also talked about the investments which the leadership under him has made in St Kitts and Nevis. Dr Drew said that his government has made significant investment in water security for St Kitts and Nevis.
According to Dr Terrance drew, when the SKNLP government took office, only 24% of the households across the island were receiving 24 hour water services.
After significant investments in the 2 Million Gallon Desalination Plant, Drilling of wells in Cayon and a recent drilling of wells in the Saddlers Community, the situation has improved significantly.
He highlighted that the water services department has also laid down pipelines to improve water supply across communities. The officials have shared that the water situation is significantly better and more than 70% of the households across the island now have access to regular potable water.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Health has highlighted that the healthcare sector has also seen significant investments under the present administration. The repair and rehabilitation work was done at the JNF General Hospital roof along with several structural and other upgrades
The administration has also made significant investment in the acquiring of a fleet of ambulances for the healthcare sector of the island.
The Minister of Health also highlighted the developments that the nation has seen with respect to financial sector. During the National Assembly he said that the government has provided a 8% pay raise for Civil Sector employees.
Dr Drew also talked about several other initiatives taken by his administration in nearly four years in office.
