St Kitts Early Childhood Development Unit hosted the Family Fitness Festival on Thursday, June 4. The event was organised as a part of the Child Month 2026 commemoration being held across the federation. 

The Family Fitness Festival brought together teachers, children and parents from across the island. The event was mainly dedicated to physical fitness and health of the participants. The event highlighted the importance of an active life for the growth and development of the children. The experts believe that active children can have better success with their social and emotional relationships. 

The child month will be celebrated with a series of activities, all dedicated towards reinforcing the importance of one or more pillars of the 41st Child Month. The month of June has designated to be commemorated for the children and remains dedicated to ensuring the development and growth of the youngsters.

The child month is an annual commemoration and holds immense significance for the people of the island. This year, the theme for child month is  “Fueling our bodies with the best: Good Nutrition, Movement and Rest.”

The unit has been dedicated to aligning the month of activities with the theme of the event. The family fitness festival aligns with the administration’s mandate for encouraging physical activity and physical fitness among the people of the island. 

The Early Childhood Development Unit has shared that the festival wants to encourage the attendants to take more interest in transitioning towards  active lifestyles. The organisation encouraged the participants to explore aerobics and other fitness activities. 

The festival event also featured some interactive exercises which are designed for children as well as adults. It also provided an opportunity for families to exercise together while reinforcing the importance of healthy habits from an early age.
