Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley is all set to represent St. Kitts and Nevis virtually in a high-level ministerial summit which is scheduled to take place today (July 10, 2026).

In the meeting, Minister Hanley will be delivering a featured video presentation about St. Kitts and Nevis Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Country Initiative as a flagship project. The government shared that at the summit, the initiative will be showcased as an emerging global best practice which other Small Island Developing States could take as a model.

Dr. Geoffrey Hanley stated that representing the federation in the international platform with administration leading project ESD is quite a proud moment for him. He said, “We are honored to share our model with the world and to reaffirm UNESCO’s role as a vital partner in building a resilient education system for the future”.

The high-level Ministerial Summit is taking place at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. The summit is being organised by UNESCO in collaboration with Greening Education Partnership (GEP). The main objective of the summit is to enhance the country’s education system and prepare them for climate change before 2030.

Additionally, Minster Dr. Hanley is also participating in a panel discussion with education ministers of Tonga, Seychelles and Uzbekistan during that summit. In the discussion, they will all be sharing the achievements of the ESD initiative in their respective countries.
