Minister Marsha Henderson, parliamentary representative for Central Basseterre has started the second phase of the Our Community Our Pride beautification programme which the Minister started during the month of October. 

The Minister, who has been working on the beautification of the community which she represents in the parliament, has taken the initiative to make sure that the community is beautiful and the people can play a role in making the community more beautiful.

The Minister is getting the support of world renowned artist Nevis Vaughan Anslyn and local artist Devon Warner. The two artists will work on creating murals highlighting the culture and heritage of the country. 

The murals will be featuring marine life, the street vendors which are a very important part of the community. The murals will also feature market scenes which will connect the art to the reality of the people. 

The “Our Community Our Pride” initiative is part of the Community Tourism Initiative. The aim of the initiative is to bring more people of the country with artistic destinations and bring more people and “tourism dollars” to the community.

The programme, being implemented under the community tourism initiative started on November 16 and will run till November 28, for two weeks. During this period, the Minister with the help of local populace and the artists will make the community prettier and more inspiring for the people of the island.

The programme has been a very important step in the direction of ensuring better community hygiene. The first phase of the project has already seen success with many people participating and supporting the cleanup drive. 

In phase two, the steps at Durant Avenue, the area around Thibou Avenue as well as the front of the Public Grand Market will be part of the beautification initiative. The project is being seen as a major success and many people are appreciating Minister Henderson for her dedicated service to the community of Central Basseterre.
