The recipients of 2022 Chevening scholarships for Barbados and the eastern Caribbean were officially announced on August 25, 2022. Joy Napier of St Kitts and Nevis won this year’s scholarship
St Kitts and Nevis awardee will pursue studies in International Development at the University of Edinburgh.
Napier received a congratulatory message from the Premier of Nevis for her accomplishment. The Premier encouraged her to achieve great heights in her educational career and life. He wrote:
“Please help me congratulate another brilliant mind from Nevis who has just captured the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom.
Congratulations, Ms Joy Napier. The sky is the limit!! Keep pushing!”
The British Government fully funds fourteen Chevening scholarships awarded to successful candidates from the Caribbean states, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines. The recipients of the various scholarships will go on to pursue their Master’s Degrees at a number of renowned universities in the UK.
The complete list of the 2022 Chevening Scholarship recipients:
Barbados
- Renee Crichlow will pursue MSc Public Health and Wellbeing at the University of West London
- Debra Francis is studying MSc Human Rights and Politics at the London School of Economics,
- Devi St. Luce will go to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, School of Advanced Study, University College London to study LLM in Drafting Legislation, Regulation, and Policy
Grenada
- Brendon Duncan will go to the University College London and study MSc Information Security
- Shireen Charles will study MSc Dental Public Health at the University College London
St Kitts and Nevis
- Joy Napier will study MSc in International Development at the University of Edinburgh
- Stacy Elva-Lafeuillee will pursue her MA International Education, and Development at the University of Sussex,
- Yasmine Francois will go to the University of East Anglia, to study MA International Social Development
- Chelsa Jongue will pursue her MA in Communication at the University of Westminster,
- Erland George will go to the University of Leeds to study MA Global Governance and Diplomacy
- Maxron Holder will study LLM Law at the University of Edinburgh.
- Nafesha Richardson will be pursuing LLM Law at the University College London.
- Shernell Hadaway will go to the University of Leeds to pursue MSc in Climate Change and Environmental Policy
- Shafique Sam will study MSc Economics at the University of Kent,
