The Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in Jamaica sent out a letter extending their best wishes to the newly elected cabinet of ministers of Dr Terrance Drew’s Labour government. The cabinet was officially sworn in at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
The Republic of Colombia is making wants to further build on the productive relationship that the country shares with St Kitts and Nevis as it congratulates the country’s new Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew and the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of his cabinet, Dr Denzil Douglas on their new assignments in government.
Former Prime Minister of the federation, Dr Denzil Douglas, is also the Minister responsible for Economic Development, International Trade, Investment, Industry and Commerce, while Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is responsible for managing the Ministries of Finance, National Security, Citizenship and Immigration, Health and Social Security.
The letter from the Colombian Embassy stated that This diplomatic mission emphasizes the interest of Colombia to keep working to promote a more comprehensive agenda between both countries in culture, commerce and other areas of interest including actions to prevent and alleviate the severe effects of global warming in the wider Caribbean. Additionally, The Republic of Colombia wants to work on helping the Caribbean country(ies) from the severe pandemic by building more resilient economies for the benefit of the people.
According to information made available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official website in St Kitts and Nevis, the Republic of Colombia is one of the longest-standing diplomatic allies of St Kitts and Nevis, having established relations on January 01, 1984.
