Kennedy Simmonds, founding member of The People’s Action Movement and the first and former Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis addressed the citizens of the Twin Island Federation via Radio stations, Ziz, Winn FM, Freedom FM, Sugar City FM, Von Radio and Social Media like Facebook and Youtube, ahead of the General Elections scheduled for Friday, August 5, 2022,.
He started his address to the residents of the twin islands, stating that St Kitts and Nevis is all set to face a general election that has come upon the country two years prematurely. He said that this election would be one of the most controversial and divisive polls in the modern history of St Kitts and Nevis.
He added that he still hoped the elections would take place in a peaceful atmosphere and that the country would have a fresh start and a renewal of the people’s faith at the end of these general elections.
In his address, Kennedy Simmonds hoped this election would benefit the people of both St Kitts and Nevis, the poor and struggling families. He said this election must be about the hope and promise of a better future, where the interests of all the people of various subcultures are safeguarded.
In his address, the former prime minister Kennedy Simmonds opened up about the reasons for the dissolution of the former “Unity Government”. He urged the people to make the right choice in the upcoming general elections, insisting that the people had a chance to change the country for the better by choosing the right representatives and rejecting the wrong ones.
Kennedy Simmonds stated in his address that the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis must vote for PAM and CCM in the upcoming General Elections as he believed this was the only way to the St Kittians and Nevisians’ salvation and the country’s bright future.
