Concerned Citizens Movement and People’s Action Movement jointly launched their CCM and PAM, ONE Movement Manifesto at Green Tree Lawns, at Constituency 4. The leaders of the two political parties made several important announcements pertaining to the upcoming general elections scheduled for Friday, August 6, 2022.
At the manifesto launch, they outlined the various fields of priority, including but not limited to Creation of jobs, fighting poverty and creating better international relationships.
They plan to promote hundreds of micro, small and medium enterprises while supporting the existing businesses across all sectors of the economy. Further, they have designed to expand existing Poverty Alleviation programs aimed at improving the lives and livelihoods of all people.
In their manifesto, CCM and PAM said they plan to prioritize healthcare and education while adding that they will provide free healthcare.
In addition, they promised to construct a state-of-the-art hospital with modern equipment and medical supplies and professionalize so that the health services of St Kitts and Nevis may be at par with international standards.
CCM and PAM assured the residents of St Kitts and Nevis that the youth programs of their government would increase opportunities in leadership, entrepreneurship and business management, academic scholarships, mentorship programs, and vocational initiatives.
CCM and PAM plan to boost and diversify their tourism industry, promote the industry beyond the traditional means and strategically expand the industry. The joint manifesto of the political parties also stated that they will increase access to affordable financing, training and coaching, and prime agricultural lands through a land bank initiative.
Another point raised in the joint manifesto was building the country’s resilience. The party has promised to help develop a comprehensive approach for addressing the multiple vulnerabilities that small island developing states face from climate change, health pandemics, natural disasters, and other global economic shocks.
They also plan to craft and enforce Freedom of Information, Term Limits, Integrity in Public Life, Electoral Reform and other suitable governance legislations after they are elected as the country leaders.
The joint movement of CCM and PAM has also announced that they plan to transition into a republican method of governance, which will be a considerable change for the country’s people, as they would have a head of the government who lives and belongs to St Kitts and Nevis.
Finally, the manifesto mentioned that St Kitts & Nevis must continue to expand its perspectives on international laws, multilateralism and building friendships with states beyond OECS, CARICOM, and other regional BLOCS. The parties will therefore cultivate further meaningful relationships across international borders through diplomacy, strategic business alliances, and global networking.
They urged the people of St Kitts and Nevis to vote for their joint movement and bring them to power, following the upcoming general elections, scheduled for Friday, August 5, 2022.
