The Government of the U.S. is urging everyone to get vaccine doses to fight against the COVID-19. They will do contact tracing once the country revises its current broad restrictions that stop many outsiders from visiting the U.S. A top adviser gave this statement from the White House on Wednesday.
The White House coronavirus response coordinator, Jeffrey Zients, stated that due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, the administration decided that the current travel restriction would remain in effect. Till the new regulation would not come to fasten the international travelers to the U.S., the old regulation will remain in place. Centers for Disease Control and prevention would be playing a lead role in the system.
Zients said, “We will also be putting in place contact tracing to enable CDC to follow up with inbound international travelers and those around them if someone has potentially been exposed to COVID-19, and we are exploring vaccination requirements for foreign nationals travelling to the United States.”
Zients commented to a panel that advises Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on issues around travel and the U.S. tourism industry.
Most of the non-American travelers have been prohibited from travelling to the U.S. In these travelers category those who had travelled to India, China most of Europe, Brazil and U.K. also lie in these countries. Most of the airlines, as well as the other travel companies, said that they would urge the government to ease the limitation, especially for the travelers from the U.K.
Separately, Anthony Fauci, the government’s top expert on infectious disease, said that he would support every decision that would order for the vaccination requirement on domestic flights.
The airline industry is adamantly opposed to such a requirement, saying it would be difficult to enforce and lead to long airports lines. Industry officials say it would be unfair to single out air travelers with a mandate that would not affect people who travel by train, bus or car.
