St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) will be soon providing it with all departments with the new port management system. After the system getting operational, there will be the least physical interaction without any issue of location. They could contact electronically.
On the September 08 edition of ‘Working for You’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (Ag.) at SCASPA, Tuffida Stewart, informed about upcoming new port management system.
Ms Stewart said that in terms of building resilience and being in a position to continue in the current environment, they had taken a decision to execute a brand new Port Management System. The system would be having various modules that involve every department within SCASPA. So whereas they had five separate locations, they would be now able to communicate electronically without having persons physically go to different departments for approvals. In this case, the SCASPA would be implementing the new Port Management System that would allow electronic communication in SCASPA and also recording and reporting.
The Acting CEO said that communication would be enhanced for all the departments in the organization that are connected to SCASPA.
Ms Stewart said, “In addition to that and attached to that Port Management System, we have a Port Community System, and that system is essentially a single-window that would allow our partners within the industry to communicate with SCASPA and to grant approval to the vessel,” she said. “So in other words, we have a system whereby the ship agents would upload the relevant information that different agencies would require and we would have a situation whereby Immigration, Customs, Health, Agriculture, Maritime, as necessary, and SCASPA would all be granting the relevant approval following the review of the electronic documentation that applies to that entity.”
She noted that the Port Community System is important, especially in a COVID-19 world, as it will eliminate persons having to move around from facility to facility to get approval, thus eliminating physical interaction.
