The Joseph Nathaniel France (JNF) General Hospital Management organised a sashing ceremony to mark the appointment of Nikisha Hazel as the new Director of Institutional Nursing Services.
The upper level management and the officials from the Ministry of Health were present at the event. The organisation has shared that the sashing ceremony celebrates Hazel’s remarkable 27 years of dedicated service in the healthcare sector.
During the ceremony, the attending persons talked about her distinguished record of leadership in nursing and public health. The ceremony also recognised her commitment, professionalism, and contributions to strengthening healthcare delivery in St Kitts and Nevis.
Officially, Hazel was appointed as the new Director of Institutional Nursing Services in the first week of the month. She has also had the opportunity to interact with the staff and management of the JNF General Hospital.
The healthcare sector of the country has been seeing significant advancement and growth with the appointment of specialists, administrators, support staff and more. The appointment of a long time member of the healthcare sector to a directorial position is also part of that mandate.

The event was attended by senior government and health sector officials. Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr. Terrance Drew spoke at the ceremony and congratulated Hazel for her appointment. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Curtis Martin; Principal Nursing Officer, Dr. Rondalyn Dennis-Bradshaw; and Director of Health Institutions, Gardenia Destang-Richardson also attended the event along with nursing colleagues and well-wishers.
The sashing ceremony was not only a celebration of Hazel’s achievement. It was also a tribute to the dedication and leadership of the nation’s nursing professionals and their invaluable contributions to patient care and public health.
