The Nevis Island Administration has announced that they are starting the work to officially name roads across the island. The officials have shared that they will also formally establish village and locality boundaries.
The officials have shared that the work is expected to start soon and the initiative will smoothen emergency response, navigation, postal delivery, utility services, and community planning.
The officials have shared that the Department of Physical Planning is leading the initiative and Environment in collaboration with the Department of Community Development. Notably, the work includes creating a standardized addressing system that will improve the delivery of essential public services. At the same time, the initiative will also strengthen planning and development across Nevis.
The officials have shared that the Minister of Physical Planning, Spencer Brand talked about the development. He emphasized the importance of the undertaking for the growth of the island nation.
According to the Minister the project will make the work of EMS, Police, Fire and Rescue Services, the Nevis Water Department, NEVLEC, and the Postal Services easier. The officials have shared that they can locate homes, businesses, and other destinations quickly and accurately.
“This is a critically important project for the island of Nevis. It is important for our emergency services, our water department, our electricity department, our postal services. Gone are the days when we could tell someone to go down the road by the big stone and the white house.
The Deputy Director Titlon Douglas-Weekes has announced the schedule for the upcoming public validation session. During the session, the residents will have the opportunity to review and validate the proposed road names and village and locality boundaries before the project is finalized.

St. John’s Parish – Pond Hill Community Centre, Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
St. Paul’s Parish – St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
St. James Parish – Franklin Brown Community Centre, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
