Four athletes from St. Kitts and Nevis departed to Mexico for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association NACAC Under 18 & 23 Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place from Friday July 10 to Sunday 12 at the Sport Complex Una Nueva Historia in Apizaco, Tlaxcala.
The St. Kitts and Nevis team is led by Coach Royston Queeley. The St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics Association SKNAA shared the information about the departure of the team online on their official social media page.
Moreover, the SKN Athletics shared that for the NACAC Under 18 & 23 Championship athletes earned a place in the team through their performance in the ANOCES tournament. The Association Olympic Committees ANOCES Athletic Championship was held last week from Saturday July 4 to Sunday 5. In the tournament St. Kitts and Nevis won the championship with 130 points.
The four athletes representing the federation in Mexico for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association NACAC championship are:
- Khylinn Prentice (U18)-100m and 200m
- Tejuan Webbe (U23)-110m Hurdles
- Alexander Caines (U23)-800m
- Kaliyah Jones (U23)- 400m
The St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics Association SKNAA extended their good wishes to the SKN team and Coach Royston Queeley. They further mentioned that they feel proud for their hard work and determination as they are competing with the region’s best athletes. The Association said, “ We are proud of your dedication and commitment and we wish you every success as you compete against the region’s best”.
Additionally, this year in the NACAC Under 18 & 23 tournament, a total of 31 countries are competing with each other.
Notably, NACAC Under 18 & 23 Championship is being hosted as a part of a collaboration between the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association and Mexican Athletics Federation (FMAA- Federación Mexicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo) including support from local government of Tlaxcala.
