St. Kitts and Nevis has sent young athletes from the island to represent the federation in the PanAm Aquatics Age Group Championship. The tournament has started as it was scheduled to take place from Wednesday July 8 to 12, 2026 at the Arbeláez Jiménez Olympic Pool complex in Ibague, Colombia.
The St. Kitts Aquatics Federation announced the names of swimmers for the tournament: Nanzanu Chiverton and Aunri Pemberton. James Weekes will be the Head coach accompanying both the athletes for the tournament. The team left for Colombia on Tuesday July 7, 2026.
Eldon Thomas, President of St. Kitts and Nevis Aquatic Federation and Dennis Knight, President of St. Kitts Department of Sports bid farewell to the team at the airport. The SKNAF organisation extends best wishes to both the swimmers and head coach for the championship.
The SKNAF said, “We wish Nazanu, Aunty and Coach James Weekes safe travels, fast swims, personal bests and a successful championship”. The SKNAF also shared that the federation swimmers participation in the tournament will give them an international experience which will help them in preparing for the Youth Olympic Games which is scheduled to take place in November.
Nazanu Chiverton is participating in the 13- 15 years category events including 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley. On the other hand, Aunri Pemberton is participating in 16-18 years categories events including 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle. Moreover, both athletes’ heats begins daily at 9:00am and the finals are scheduled to take place in the evening at 5:00am.
Additionally, 31 countries are participating in the PanAm Aquatics Age Group Championship. More than 500 athletes will compete against each other as a part of the tournament. The athletes are from the Caribbean region, South America, Central America and North America.
Notably, the St. Kitts Aquatics Federation also appreciated the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee continuous efforts of supporting and investing in the advancement and development of youth sport in the federation.
