The Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Edward Tao has congratulated the Nevis Island Administration for breaking ground on the expansion project of the Nevis International Airport. The ambassador was at the time speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for the expansion of the Vance Amory International Airport. The Embassy of Taiwan is a partner of the Nevis Island Administration and is supporting the project.
The groundbreaking of the Airport expansion project is a matter of significant pride for the island and improves their tourism product. The groundbreaking ceremony was hosted on July 1, 2026 with several high level officials of the Nevis Island Administration in attendance.
Ambassador Tao shared that he is most excited for the future of the island nation with the expansion of the airport. The ambassador highlighted that the completed airport expansion will inject new impetus into the local economy and open doors to incredible new growth.
Ambassador Tao also reiterated that Taiwan is a trusted, reliable, and steadfast partner to Nevis as they venture on the expansion project. He committed that the East Asian Republic will play a constructive role in the Vance Amory Airport Expansion Project. The relationship between the Republic of China and Nevis is characterized by shared democratic values and mutual trust.
Ambassador Tao said that Taiwan is proud to walk hand-in-hand with Nevis on its development journey toward a sustainable and prosperous future. The expansion project of the Nevis International Airport has been among the mandates of the Nevis Island Administration ever since they started their new tenure in administration in 2022.
The funding and financial resources support for the project is coming from Taiwan in addition to several partners including the St Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank. This will be crucial in securing the tourism future of the island with the development of the Vance Amory International airport.
Attending the ceremony also were Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, Deputy Governor-General Hyleeta Liburd, and the Nevis Island Administration Cabinet.
