The government of St. Kitts and Nevis along with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced that the Fifth Annual Africaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF) 2026 has been postponed. The announcement regarding the new development was done through a joint statement.
The joint statement was also shared to the delegates and registered participants regarding the postponed of the ACTIF 2026. Both organizations stated, “The Fifth Annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment forum originally scheduled to take place from 29-31 July 2026 in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, will no longer take place as earlier announced”.
The action of postponing the forum has been taken after the discussion with regional, continental and international public health authorities regarding the increasing numbers of public health concerns in some parts of Africa. Both the organizations mentioned that the measure of postponing the forum was taken as the precaution to safeguard the health of stakeholders.
The statement stated, Out of caution and with the health, safety, and well-being of delegates, speakers, partners, sponsors and other participants in mind, Afreximbank and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis have agreed that the deferral of the forum is the most responsible course of action at this time”.
Moreover, for the future updates both the organizations requested stakeholders to stay connected with their respective official channels or visit the ACTIF 2026 website for accurate updates.
According to sources, the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the reasons for the postponement of the summit as the situation continues to worsen. The European Centre for Disease Prevention control (ECDC) and health authorities in the DRC shared the 1,333 confirmed cases and 399 deaths till June 29.
Notably, in the statement they also mentioned that the postponing the forum was a tough decision and expressed regret for any inconvenience to stakeholders.
