Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended best wishes on the occasion of Environment Day and highlighted the importance of environmental protection. PM Drew called it crucial for the future of the nation and its people, especially the children.
The Prime Minister shared a facebook post to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5, 2026. The commemoration is observed annually all over the world, highlighting the far reaching need and impact of environmental protection.
On June 5, Dr Drew took the opportunity to reflect on the future that he and his community seek to leave for the future of the nation. Notably, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has been one of the most vocal advocates for environmental protection within.
He said, Today, on World Environment Day, I am reminded that the choices we make now will shape the St. Kitts and Nevis our children and grandchildren inherit.
The Prime Minister reflected on all the work that the island has done in furthering their agenda of promoting environmental protection. The island has been standing on the forefront of the climate crisis as the smallest island state in the western hemisphere.
The Prime Minister of the country said that they have made advancements in the renewable energy and other ventures supporting the nation’s fight against climate change. Dr Drew said, From investing in renewable energy and water security to advancing our Sustainable Island State Agenda, the government of St Kitts and Nevis is working to build a nation that grows responsibly. At the same time, the organisation is also working toward protecting the beauty and resources that make our Federation unique.
The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew further added, “Caring for our environment is not just about preserving nature, it is about safeguarding our future, strengthening our resilience, and creating opportunities for generations to come.”
