Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St kitts and Nevis and the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency 8, attended the 30th Anniversary Opening of the Green Valley Festival. The opening ceremony for the Green Valley Festival was hosted on May 7.
The Prime Minister of the country, who was present for the milestone opening said that he was proud to be part of the celebration.
As the member of Parliament, Dr Drew said that he was delighted to join the people of Cayon for this event. He also added that this celebration represents far more than entertainment.
Dr Drew said that the festival has been a symbol of community pride, cultural expression, resilience and togetherness. The festival has served as a platform for the youth of the country, a platform for community spirit and more.
The green valley festival also supports the local businesses of the country and supports the preservation of the rich cultural identity of Cayon. Prime Minister Drew took to his social media to share some images from the opening ceremony.
The Prime Minister further noted that he has supported Green Valley because he understands the true purpose of the festival. He said that festivals like these help to build communities. They remind people who they are, where they come from, and what they can become when they work together.
Further in his social media post, Dr Drew highlighted that Cayon has always held a special place in the story of St. Kitts and Nevis. He added that ever since he took the office of the Prime Minister, he has been committed to helping restore and strengthen essential services and opportunities within the community.
He also promised that he will continue the work of reestablishing Cayon as a thriving town once again.
The Prime Minister appreciated the organizers, volunteers, patrons, and every person who carried this festival forward over the years. He said that it is due to their efforts thatthe community has been able to preserve something truly special for this generation and the next.
