Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew who also handles the responsibility for the Member of Parliament for St. Christopher 8 made an announcement regarding crucial developments in Conaree. The made these remarks during a Public Meeting with the members of his constituency on Thursday.
During this meeting, he reasserted his commitment to the continued transformation of Conaree in front of his constituents.
The final prelabour meeting took place in Constituency 8 where the Prime Minister and MP asserted that they are on the way to transformation.
During the meeting, PM Drew said that the people of Conaree are hardworking people. He said that they have excelled in areas such as fishing, farming, heavy equipment, and construction.
These remarks formed the prelude to his next announcement in which he stated that the previous administration did not invest adequately into the community.
PM Drew said that Conaree was not high on the priority list of the last administration. Hardly any significant development had taken place to move the community of Conaree from one level to the next. Conaree was left behind.”
Dr. Drew then went on to say that since the time he has become the Member of Parliament, young people from Conaree have been given opportunities for employment by his administration.
The youngsters are able to hold positions at Government Headquarters including the Office of the Prime Minister.
He also said that after his election into the parliament, he ensured that Conaree Community Centre wasrenovated, refurbished, painted, and properly fenced.
The community center now bears the names of two icons of the Conaree community, Desmond Hobson-Tyson and the caretaker, Mrs. Browne.”
The roads and drainage, neglected over the years, have seen significant work since becoming parliamentary representative.
He also said that the roads in the community which were in a bad state have also been refurbished. Further, the land close to the church has been exchanged to facilitate the construction of a Health Centre for Conaree.
In addition to the announcement regarding the new health center, the Prime Minister has also announced that they have earmarked land to provide some 25 house lots for residents of Conaree.
The meeting was part of the Pre Labour Day interactions which took place from April 23 to April 30. In St Kitts and Nevis, Labour Day is celebrated on the first Monday of the month of May.
