St. Kitts and Nevis witnessed a milestone moment as a travel destination, on Sunday 2, May 2026. A famous landmark of the twin island federation, the “Black Rocks” featured in the Caribbean Journal as the Caribbean photo of the week.
The photo of the landmark was captured by Catherine Bauer during her recent trip to St. Kitts. She is an active reader of the Caribbean Journal. In the journal the landmark was captioned as “On the rocks in St. Kitts”.
Black Rocks was created by the lava flow of Mount Liamuiga, a dormant stratovolcano covering the northern region of St. Kitts. Currently Black Rocks lies at the northeastern coast of St. Kitts and near the Saddlers town. Over time nature carved the rocks into jagged black volcanic cliffs and boulders.
According to officials, tourists are attracted towards the Black Rocks due to its rugged beauty and exceptional photo opportunities. Recognizing that the Caribbean region is full of unique landmarks like the black rocks, Caribbean Journal regularly requests their readers to send photos of prominent landmarks of the region for the upcoming Caribbean photo of the week segments. They also mentioned to their reader that while sending the photo they should add their first and last name.
