Director of Health Institutions, Dr. Jenson Morton, has confirmed that the dialysis services at the JNF General Hospital have been resumed. The dialysis service had been briefly closed due to some necessary housekeeping services.
However, starting Wednesday evening, that is September 17, the families across St kitts and Nevis can access dialysis services again. The Ministry of Health has also confirmed that they are aware of the backlog created due to the temporary closure of services.
In order to address this, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that they will be increasing service hours. This will help to accommodate the backlog of patients who were not able to access this service due to the closure.
The closure of the dialysis unit for the period of maintenance is being painted in a bad light by some opposition backed media outlets. The health stakeholders have confirmed that they had to take this emergency closure in order to ensure the safety and security of the people.
The Ministry has clarified that the housekeeping necessitated the closure of the facility which will in the long run allow them to offer better services to the people of St Kitts and Nevis. While there are no legit proofs of this temporary closure being anything more than the need of the hour, the opposition backed media outlets are using it to sway opinion and cause panic in the country.
Notably, the people of St Kitts and Nevis are being put into states of panic with provocative headlines. Some media outlets are making an unfortunate disruption in services undi a full blown scandal of healthcare.
Some of the articles even accuse the government of political victimization when the focus of the day should be on healthcare and not on anything more. The authorities are making every effort possible to bring service back to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
They are also trying to make up for the time that people lost out on due to the temporary closure of dialysis services. This time should be used to give correct guidance to the people but us in turn being misused to cause panic among people
