Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis visited the Desalination Plant in Basseterre on Wednesday, He toured the facility with some members of the Department of Public Utilities. He shared his appreciation on the progress of the construction of the desalination plant on his social media.
The Desalination plant has been under construction for several months and is finally close to becoming operational. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew confirmed that the plant will come online very soon and also deliver safe potable water to the communities of St Kitts and Nevis.
The nation which has been struggling with shortages of water for several years in several communities will get some relief with the desalination plant coming online. The project has been realised with the investment of a massive 50 Million Dollars and countless hours of labour on the part of the team of department of public utilities.
The officials have shared that the members of the community have been looking forward to the completion of the desalination plant for several year. The Prime Minister said that people have been waiting for a more reliable source of water supply for their homes.
The Prime Minister has been keeping tabs on the progress of the desalination plant for the benefit of the communities. Seeing the plant so close to going online, Dr Terrance Drew thanked the Minister of Public Utilities, Konris Maynard and his team.
He said that they have worked hard to ensure progress on the desalination plant is quick and it can come online quickly. The Prime Minister said that this is a significant development for the country and will help the people of the community significantly.
The people of the country have also expressed their delight on seeing the progress of the desalination seeing that in a matter of days, the plant is expected to start supplying water to the various communities.
