The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, toured the historic Eyubelyu (Jubilee) Palace. The historic palace is currently known by the name of the National Palace and houses a museum and the residence of the President of Ethiopia.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by a delegation which also consisted of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister, his delegation and several other CARICOM leaders visited the palace on the sidelines of the Africa CARICOM Summit.

The officials have shared that the Africa-CARICOM Summit was hosted on Sunday, September 7, coinciding with the Africa CARICOM Day. The officials have shared that the tour was extremely crucial highlighting the importance of the historic and geographical ties of the two regions.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared that he was delighted to witness the history and culture of Ethiopia. The National Palace also serves as a home to the museum of the country’s long and rich history.

The palace museum highlights the rich history, from imperial artefacts to cultural treasures. The officials have shared that the members of the community from either region have some connection to the artefacts.

The Palace was constructed to commemorate the silver jubilee of Emperor Haile Selassie. The officials have shared that currently; the palace is being used by the President of Ethiopia.

The leaders have shared that it is important for the leaders to pay their respect to the history that exists within Ethiopia. The country has the rare honour of never being colonized and fighting colonization successfully.

This also makes the nation the perfect platform to host the Africa-CARICOM Summit. The nation is also the host of the African Union Headquarters. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew highlighted that he was extremely honored to visit the country and see the countless pieces of its rich and  long standing history at display with pride.
