The government of St Kitts and Nevis has secured several new partnerships with international and national air carriers and cruise liners. The aim of these partnerships is to improve tourist arrivals to the country.
Tourism, being one of the most important driving forces of the economy of St Kitts and Nevis, needs consistent efforts and improvements. In the last three years of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Administration has made diligent efforts to improve tourism sector.
In the last three years, the Tourism Ministry has formed new collaborations with international and regional airlines. Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean and Jetblue were among the airlines who have been carrying travellers to and from St Kitts and Nevis on a regular basis.
Caribbean Airlines provide five times weekly airlift from Trinidad and Tobago via Antigua to St. Kitts and Nevis. This is one example of the improved airlift capacity which the country has attained in the last three years.
Under the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, the cruise tourism of St Kitts and Nevis has also seen tremendous increase. Several cruise ships from top cruise lines have made their inaugural calls to the island in the last three years.
The biggest cruise ships in the world, the Wonder of the Sea and Icon of the Seas have already made calls to the shores of the federation.
Further, it is also worth mentioning that all these cruise ships have returned to the shores of St Kitts and Nevis every year for multiple calls. This is proof that St Kitts and Nevis is turning out to be a popular cruise destination for travelers as well as companies
The stakeholders of the tourism sector have shared that these partnerships help in improving connectivity of St Kitts and Nevis to the rest of the region and the world. In the last three years the tourism ministry has promoted St Kitts and Nevis in several markets internationally.
The members of the tourism department shared that they are constantly making efforts to improve the tourism sector. They have marketed the destination in several markets across the globe to attract more tourists to the island.
The SKNLP Leadership has shared that they will continue to make the tourism sector of the country more evolved and accommodating to the needs of the modern travellers.
