The Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson shared an update on the growth of the airlift capacity of the twin island nation. The Minister recently spoke to the media, sharing the updates regarding the developments in the tourism sector in the first quarter of the year 2025.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, airlift capacity of the nation has seen a marked increase. The nation has seen an increased number of flights making trips to the twin island nation.
During the period of January 2025 to March 2025, the federation has recorded 46,641 passengers. The officials have shared that the numbers have seen a fifteen percent increase in comparison to the same period during the previous year.
The Minister highlighted that the number of airlift passengers in the period between November to March has also seen an increase. Drawing a comparison, the Minister of Tourism shared that during the previous year, November 2023-March 2024, the airlift passenger arrivals stood at 68,170.
She noted that during the previous years, the federation had been in the process of post pandemic recovery. Prior to the Pandemic, the numbers stood at 77,000 during the 2018 to 20219.
The growth of the airlift sector in the post pandemic period has been significant. Minister Marsha Henderson highlighted that during November 2024 to March 2025 recorded 78,077 airlift travellers.
The number has been a welcome development as it is exceeding the pre pandemic numbers. The Minister has shared that her team has been promoting St Kitts and Nevis as a tourism destination at several travel shows.
The team travelled to Routes America in Nassau, Bahamas to discuss the expansion of existing routes. They also discussed the creation of the new routes for St Kitts and Nevis.
The officials have shared that St Kitts and Nevis was a preferred destination for the tourists. The Minister is proud to note that the bookings for the destination have recorded over 70 percent, which is much higher than the average.
