Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew spoke about the importance of learning and adjusting during ‘Staff Development Day’ on March 12, 2025 at the St Kitts Marriott Resort. The day was marked as a training day for the constituents of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Staff Development Day is an initiative by the government to equip the public sector employees with the skills necessary to contribute effectively to national development.
Moreover, the government continues its efforts to create a more modernized and efficient public service sector with training programs offering tools necessary for effective governance and national progress.
The session is part of an ongoing series of classes designed to enhance the individual and professional skills of government personnel with emphasis on resolving conflict, building teams, effective communication, and client support relations.
PM Dr Terrance Drew restated the government’s commitment to create a more skilled working environment as part of their vision for a Sustainable Island State. He called all public servants to expose themselves to high quality training to grow themselves.
PM Drew highlights ‘adopt’ and ‘adapt’
Attending the workshop, PM Drew highlighted ‘adopt’ and ‘adapt’ as two principles that guide both personally and professionally.
He explained that people possess a certain degree of adaptability which is fundamentally the ability to survive in entirely different environments. That is to say, humans can thrive and excel at whatever they do.
According to PM Dr Terrance Drew , the environment can also be adopted which means we can utilize it to our benefit. He added that this is the foundation upon which serious training and learning are established.
He further connected the principles with education, professional growth and personal transformation and said that the person is not being trained if they are not gaining more knowledge.
PM Drew added that one can only improve by creating an opportunity for themselves to grow on a personal and professional level.
