Three from St Kitts and Nevis recognized on King’s Birthday Honors List 2024

Three persons who were named on the King’s Birthday Honors List 2024 from St Kitts and Nevis, were honored at an investiture ceremony at the Governor’s House on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

The King’s Birthday Honors List is a United Kingdom-wide initiative that is primarily focused on the role of people who have positively influenced the lives of others within the UK and Commonwealth Nations.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew said that from the world of sports and banking to public service and customs, the efforts of the three honorees have impacted the lives of many by shaping industries, institutions, and committees.

Jennifer Nero honored for her services to the British Empire

The admirable leader, Jennifer Nero was recognized for her services to the Banking and Sporting sectors. She received the distinguished title of ‘Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ (OBE). Jennifer Nero was invested at Buckingham Palace on February 4, 2025.

Nero was the first and only woman to be the Managing Director of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank from December 2005 to July 2016. Some of her other accomplishments include Senior Director of Internal Audit, Deputy Director for Banking and Monetary Operations, and Head of the Investments Unit.

Henrietta Douglas-Christmas recognized for her service to public health

Henrietta Douglas-Christmas was honored for her 40 plus years of service to nursing, public health, and community service in St Kitts and Nevis and the diaspora. She was appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her outstanding public service.

One of her many achievements is her position as the longest-serving Principal Nursing Officer, a title she held from 1997 through to 2015. Henrietta Douglas founded both the St Paul’s Teen Mothers Support Group and the Capisterre Women for development Group. The two groups were launched to support women beyond healthcare.

Geroid Belle was awarded for his contributions to Customs & Excise

Geroid Belle was named a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his  contributions to Customs and Excise. One of his achievements included him being the youngest person to hold the position of Comptroller of Customs in 2014.

 

Belle was also called a community leader for his support of community initiatives in education, youth empowerment, and social development.
