Ultra Carnival wins ‘Troup of the Year’ during SKELEC Grand Parade

Ultra Carnival won the Troup of the Year with 693 points along with Queen of the Bands, King of the Bands and Section of the Year.

The first runner up of the SKELEC Grand Parade is Luxe Carnival with 673 points, and Zus Carnival being the second runner up with 528 points.

Winners of the SKELEC Grand Parade street activities have been announced that took place during Sugar Mas 53 on January 1, 2025.

The winners were announced by Shannon Hawley, the Chairperson of St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC).

Foreign Affairs Minister Denzil Llewellyn Douglas also congratulated the winner and the runner ups of the SKELEC Grand Parade.

  • First Parade Day Troupe to Reveal All Costumes : Luxe Carnival – Ocean Odyssey, Mysteries of the Underworld
  • SKELEC Most Powerful Troupe : Luxe Carnival – Ocean Odyssey, Mysteries of the Underworld (160 points)
  • Queen of the Bands : Ultra Carnival – Nekirah Nicholls (663 points), De Market Women
  • King of the Bands : Ultra Carnival – Kajali Hanley-Gumbs (665 points), Papa Bois
  • Section of the Year : Ultra Carnival – The Tale of Anansi (120 points)

Troupe of the Year and Runner ups

  • Troupe of the Year : Ultra Carnival – The Stories of the West Indies (693 points)
  • 1st Runner Up : Luxe Carnival – Ocean Odyssey, Mysteries of the Underworld (673 points)
  • 2nd Runner Up : Zus Carnival – Nature’s Majesty (528 points)

Grand Parade and Sugar Mas

Grand Parade is the main event that takes place on January 1 and January 2 during St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival, Sugar Mas.

The carnival is enjoyed by revelers who participate in street activities and pageants, dancing and singing on the streets.


Locals wear costumes and enjoy masquerades, DJs, and band performances with different genres like Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Soca, and more.

Sugar Mas is the longest holiday in St Kitts and Nevis that takes place for a period of six weeks from mid – November to January.
