St Kitts and Nevis: The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) St Kitts and Nevis has made a call for films, documentaries, and TikToks for the 13th Caribbean Conference and Comprehensive Disaster Management Film Festival.
The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency has announced the 13th edition of the Film Festival and this year it will be held under the theme, “Road to Resilience Checkpoint: Levelling Up for a Dynamic Future,” from December 2nd to 6th, 2024.
NEMA called for the creative films and documentaries produced between 2020 and 2024, focusing on innovation and technology in climate change and comprehensive disaster management through their official social media account.
The organisers have invited the filmmakers and young creatives to submit their projects, including TikTok videos, by emailing links of Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer to keith.goddard@cdema.org. These will be showcased along with the featured film, “Ivan + 20.”
It is to be noted that the duration for films should be three (3) to fifteen (15) minutes and for TikToks should be two (2) to five (5) minutes.
NEMA has also announced exciting sponsored prizes under the following categories:
- Innovation and Technology in Disaster Risk Management
- Youth Empowerment and Capacity Building
- Community Centred Approaches to Disaster Risk Management
- Climate Change Adaption and Resilience Building
Notably, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew emphasised the CDM 13 theme’s relevance in today’s rapidly developing landscape, stressing the need to adapt, innovate, and embrace change for growth.
The Executive Director of CDEMA, Elizabeth Riley has also underscored the agency’s efforts in advancing the Comprehensive Disaster Management strategy. She stated that CDEMA is working with 19 participating states and partners and is implementing diverse programmes to support the strategic objectives of the Strategic Plan 2022-2027.
