Basseterre, St Kitts: St Kitts and Nevis is all set to welcome over 1 million cruise passengers during the ongoing 2024-2025 cruise season, marking a historical milestone in its tourism industry. This announcement was made by the Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson at a recent press conference.
Significantly, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew took his Facebook to highlight this announcement and extended thanks to St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Minister Marsha Henderson and her team.
It is to be noted that this projection indicates a 22% increase in the arrivals in comparison to the 2023-2024 season. This also stands as a proof how under the leadership of Marsha Henderson, the ministry has taken several initiatives to make St Kitts a prime destination of the Caribbean.
The Minister of Tourism noted that this is an exciting milestone for their country and it highlights the effectiveness of their long-term strategies that were initiated to make St Kitts a must-visit destination in the Caribbean.
She also mentioned that their goal is not only to increase the number of visitors but also to make the experience of every visitor unique and enriching. She also appreciated the team’s dedication and the collaborative efforts of the stakeholders.

During her remarks, Minister Henderson also shed light on factors that contribute to this significant achievement and record-breaking projection. These factors include partnerships with major cruise lines, enhancements to Port Zante, and a series of promotional efforts that spotlights St Kitts’ major attractions.
Remarkably, the Tourism Ministry is also aligning with the St Kitts and Nevis Government’s Sustainable Island State Agenda. The ministry has taken several measures including the recent signing of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. This aims to reduce tourism’s carbon footprints while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the island.
Notably, as the winter season is advancing, Minister Henderson and her team remain optimistic about maintaining this momentum, with projections indicating that tourism will continue to play a pivotal role in bolstering the island’s economy.
