St Kitts: The Minister of Sports, Creative Economy, et al., Samal Duggins officially inaugurated the St Kitts Department of Sports 2024 School Football Tournaments on October 18, 2024 at the Warner Park Stadium.
The Sports Minister shared glimpses from the opening ceremony and expressed honour of declaring the tournaments open. Sharing the highlights on his official social media, he noted, “It is my esteemed honour to officially declare open the St. Kitts Department of Sports 2024 Football Competitions!”
Significantly, Minister Duggins also mentioned that this season the Ministry of Sports is proudly hosting Primary School Football and High School Football across multiple divisions, including U14 Boys, U17 Boys, Open Boys, and Girls.
He also expressed his excitement to witness 21 primary schools, with the addition of Ski Academy and Cotton Thomas Comprehensive, who will be joining the competition.
Notably, the high school divisions of St Kitts include 8 schools for U14 Boys, 8 schools for U17 Boys, 9 teams for the Female division, and 10 teams for Open Boys Tournament. “The anticipation is high, and I am sure we will see some remarkable talent on the field,” Minister Samal Duggins said.
Significantly, the football competitions kicked off with the opening ceremony and exciting matchups between the last year’s champions, Tyrell Williams Primary vs Maurice Hillier Memorial School at 3:30 pm and the last year’s second-place winners, Halliday-Smith Primary, vs. Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary, also at 3:30 pm.
Another match will be played at 5:30 pm between the High School Champions Verchilds High School and Washington Archibald High School and all the matches will be played at the Warner Park Football Stadium. “Don’t miss the start of an unforgettable football season!” the Department of Sports mentioned.
