St. Kitts and Nevis: Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, appealed to all the Caribbean men to get prostate tested. He made this appeal so that men could escape the possibility of prostate cancer and take precautions to avoid the chances.
PM Drew, through his social media, made this appeal and said that he also got the tests done. He also mentioned the journey of a man who was diagnosed with this disease: Advisor Austin Edinborough.
He shared that Edinborough was diagnosed with this disease and faced several procedures. He had to go through many tests, biopsies, and major other treatments. After tons of efforts, he became cancer-free. This journey of Austin Edinborough serves as a hope for many patients suffering from severe problems.
PM Terrance Drew said that if he had not gotten tested, then the results would have been a lot more different which also would not have been in his favour. “Had not gotten tested he most likely would have had advanced disease instead of being healthy and full of life.”
“I strongly encourage all men of screening age to get tested,” added PM Terrance Drew in his appeal. He said that the life story of Edinborough he shared was to encourage everyone to get the tests done and get treatment at the earliest.
In order to get the tests done, Black Caribbean Men who are 40 and above are asked to go to the free men’s clinic. These clinics are available at every health centre in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“Black Caribbean men 40 and above, let us get tested. There are free men’s clinics available at every health centre in St. Kitts,” concluded Prime Minister.
