Nevis: The Annual Child Month Parade and Fun Fair took place on Friday, June 17, 2024. The theme of the 2024-year Child Month Parade was “Embrace Inclusion: Every Child Counts.”
The event commenced at 9:00 am from the streets of Old Hospital Road to Elquemedo T. Willet (ETW) Park. The colour ‘white’ was chosen as this year’s theme.
Children were treated to games and fun learning activities as Child Month 2024 is being celebrated to enhance the capabilities of the children of the country.
The event saw students from Early Childhood centres, parents, teachers, and representatives from the Ministry of Education celebrating as they marched towards the streets of Charlestown.
Refreshments were all on sale, and the Fun Fair hosted different fun activities, games, and events for the children. This event encouraged the interactions between children and their parents or guardians and among children as well.
The first event of the parade and fun fair was the free entertainment which featured musical performances and poem recitation competitions. Several games were also the part of the event. This also enhanced the physical activity of the children.
Additionally, refreshments on sale included several exclusive dishes and cuisine. The fundraiser event was also held in Nevis, with the parade as $1 was given for face painting and $1 provided for Lucky Dip.
The Children’s Special Lunch was given at $8 which included the package of one hotdog and one drink. For other food packages, the prices were as follows:
Hotdogs were available for $5, Cookups for $12, Fried Chicken and Popcorn were available for $3, Icepops for $2, and Beverages were also provided on sale.
This celebration of the Child Month 2024 was a reminder of the children’s uniqueness and varying talents and abilities.
