During the visit, Dr. Terrance Drew will meet the newly appointed President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Lai Ching-te. This visit will mark a significant diplomatic engagement between the two Federations.

The 8th President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, welcomes the ministers as a testament to the friendship and cooperation between St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.

The Republic of China (Taiwan) was the first to establish diplomatic ties when St. Kitts and Nevis became independent in 1983.

The itinerary includes several engagements that will encourage cultural ties and economic development. These include meeting with the nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis currently pursuing studies in Taiwan, visits to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, and meetings with Dr. Chia-lung Lin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chi-mai Chen, Mayor of Kaohsiung.

A key point of the visit will be the signing ceremony for the Sister Cities partnership between Kaohsiung City and Basseterre City.

Moreover, the delegation plans to visit notable Taiwanese institutions like CECI Engineering Consultants, Inc. and Overseas Investment & Development Corp., and interact with industry leaders such as Mr. Stan Shih, Co-founder and Honorary Chairman of Acer Inc.

The state visit aims to explore new avenues of cooperation between the two nations. It also reassures the shared values of democracy, economic development, and cultural exchange between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
