The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, welcomed the inaugural flight of Sunrise Airways. The newly launched regional carrier began its new flights to Antigua, St. Kitts, and Dominica this weekend.

At the ceremonial inauguration, PM Terrance Drew shared his delight on the beginning of this new venture. He urged, “Let us rise to this moment with gratitude and a shared sense of purpose. Let us chart a course toward a future characterized by sustainable growth, resilience, and prosperity for a sustainable island state.”

The Prime Minister also mentioned how this expansion of airlines will improve airlift, which will, hence, create jobs and help the economy grow. He adds that this new service will significantly increase connectivity and intra-regional travel.

Other distinguished guests include Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation et al, Marsha T. Henderson and Sunrise Airways CEO and Chairman Philippe Bayard. These guests joined PM Terrance Drew in a ceremony symbolically announcing this milestone event and the shared purpose and collective effort it brings along.

She further said that they acknowledge Sunrise Airways as a strong force in the new life thrust in this important sector. The new influx of visitors will have a ripple effect in bringing different kinds of employment in hospitality, transport, and retail, and even with the local artisans, who shall all benefit economically.

Philip Bayard also took to the stand: “On behalf of Sunrise Airways, I thank you all. Together, let’s reach the distances, bring our own communities closer, and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that define our Caribbean home.”

The officer-in-charge of St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), Vaughn Woodley, also welcomed Sunrise Airways’ inaugural and said that they are happy to see Caribbean Airlines’ business expand in the region.

The event was marked by cutting a ribbon and celebrating the inaugural with a cake. It concluded with exchanging gifts and raising a toast to Sunrise Airways.

PM Terrance Drew, along with the Minister of Tourism, CEO of Sunrise Airways, and other ministers, also experienced the newly inaugurated flight.

As St. Kitts and Nevis move towards a brighter future, Sunrise Airways’ arrival marks a big step in its ambitions to kick-start new economic growth and foster its position as one of the top destinations within the Caribbean.
