Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Reiterating his commitment towards ensuring better and swift healthcare services for kids through Children’s Medical Assistance Fund, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has extended his helps to DJ Woody and the family in their tough time.
The leader of St. Kitts and Nevis received an information about a child named Kevon Woody, who got his three bones dislocated as his head had hit an object while diving into the water. He immediately offered assistance to the child with children’s medical fund.
PM Drew took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to share the news with the general public and encouraged them to use the children’s fund in any kind of emergency.
“Many have called and I have reached out to DJ Woody and the family. The children’s medical assistance fund stands ready to assist. Every child must be given the chance to live. I now await the medical arrangements. Let’s pray for this precious child, the parents and family,” added the prime minister.
Details about the case
The incident took place on May 5 at around 4 pm on the island of Nevis at Pinneys Beach. The family of DJ Woody were having a quality time at the beach, when Kevon decided to take a run and dive into the ocean.
While diving into the water, his head had hit either an object or the bottom of the ocean, following which he got unconscious for some time and sustained severe injuries. When people around the beach noticed him, they ran for his rescue.
The calls were made on the 911 emergency for the medical aid and the child was taken to Alexandra Hospital in Nevis. The CT scan and X-ray reports claimed that his lungs were filled with water and three of his bones were dislocated in his neck.
Noting this, he got paralysed from his neck down due to such conditions. Kevon communicates with the people only by moving his head back and forth. The doctors have provided him a respirator which supports his breathing.
Additionally, PM Drew extended a helping hand to the patient and his family and wished for his speedy recovery. His efforts are receiving appreciation from the people across the nation. many people took to their Facebook handles and expressed their delight for the PM Drew’s commitment towards the well-being of the people. While reacting to the news, a person named Melvina Samuel commented, “Tears came to my eyes just listening to the appeal from the dad. God bless you Mr PM for this initiative that can help children. Praying for a full recovery of this young man.”
Another FB user, by the name of Rena Stephen quoted, “God will bless you my prime minister you are the best in the world let us prayer for woody and his family it is not easy I cry when he speak about his son it was touching thank God for Dr Drew God will continue to bless you.”
