St Kitts and Nevis: Nevis-based Hollywood actress Juliette Jeffers conducted Acting Workshops ‘A Taste of Hollywood’ in Nevis on March 2 and 3. The classes were deemed as a huge success as it attracted large number of participants.
Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, was pleased at the collaboration between Nevis Investment Promoting Agency, the Nevis Cultural Development, the Nevis Tourism Authority and the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation as well as the main sponsor of the event Four Seasons Resort.
He said that the two day workshop was attended by a number of participants and he also encouraged them to put the skills they learned into practice in their everyday lives.
The Premier also attended the brief opening ceremony for the Taste of Hollywood acting Master Class facilitated by the Nevis’ own actress/writer Juliette Jeffers at the MGR Park.
During the ceremony, he said that he wished that one day, someone from Nevis would perform on the world stage in a play or movie, and the Nevisians would be watching them on the big screen.
Premier Brantley also thanked Juliette Jeffers for her contribution to the development of Nevisians interested in the field of acting. He outlined, “Thankyou so much. You do not know how significant it is to us and we are hopeful that when the history of Nevis in film is written, there will be a chapter dedicated to you.”
Over the two years of the acting workshop, the actress instructed the attendees on the basics of acting, which included character development, improvisation, scene study, memorization techniques, and on-camera techniques.
Following the class, she said that ‘A Taste of Hollywood’ would not have been possible without certain key players and added, “So I am extremely grateful to Premier Mark Brantley, the Nevis Film Commissioner, Pamela Martin, the director of Sales & Marketing of the Nevis Tourism Authority, Phéon Hawk Jones, the GM of the Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies, Billy Cueto and last but not least the Alexis Jeffers, who helped to set this all into motion.”
