Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, condemned the shooting incident that happened in Nevis. He called it an alarming situation and expressed deep sadness.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew took to his social media to express his heartfelt message to St Kitts and Nevis residents on the ongoing criminal activities in his federation.
In his statement, he started by expressing deep sadness with a heavy heart as he was reporting about a recent and deeply disturbing incident at Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peters, where three young men fell victim to senseless violence.
Terrence Drew sympathised with the families of the two young men who tragically lost their lives, and he wished the survivor a smooth journey of recovery.
PM Drew highlighted that after learning of the incident, he immediately stopped all the birthday celebrations and personally visited and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
He intended to personally engage with the affected families and community before speaking to the public and has fulfilled that obligation yesterday and will continue early this morning.
The Prime Minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to all citizens and residents across the country who may have been affected. He assured the citizens and residents that the government is committed to taking all necessary measures to stop such behaviour.
Pm Drew called for the nation as a unity to unequivocally condemn these acts of violence that have become too common in the communities. He highlighted that the loss of these lives stood as a reminder that collective action is urgently needed to address the root causes of such incidents and to avoid them in future.
Dr Terrence Drew warned and begged the young people who are caught in the web of violence to reflect on the path they are taking, put their guns down, and embrace a future full of promises and positivity. The Federation of St Kitts And Nevis is expected not to allow senseless actions to determine the federation’s collective destiny.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to unite against violence and work together to build a society where our youth can thrive and succeed,” said Terrence Drew.
He has encouraged the community to channel their grief and rage into actions that promote understanding, compassion and community building.
Finally, he expressed solidarity with those suffering and extended his condolences to the lost lives. The entire nation of St Kitts And Nevis is expected to unite against gun crime and spread peace and positivity among them.
