The Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, recently took to his social media account to share glimpses of the labour day parade on Monday, May 1, 2023. During the labour day celebration, the senior Leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party took the opportunity to recognize and applaud Sylvia Mills of St. Paul’s/Sandy Point.
She is the wife of the former labour party candidate and parliamentary representative of Constituency 6, Charles E Mills. Dr Douglas took immense pride in honouring the wife of his predecessor and former leader at the Labour Day celebration. Notably, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party arranged several significant events to commemorate and celebrate the labour day.
The events were aimed at acknowledging the vast history that the labour movement of St Kitts and Nevis entails and the impact that it had on the shared history of the Caribbean. In several instances, the leaders of St Kitts and Nevis, including the senior leader Dr Denzil Douglas reflected on the history of the political party.
The leaders of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party also reflected greatly on the accomplishments and the achievements that they have recorded in the several decades. Charles E Mills, the former parliamentary representative of Constituency 6, was an education in pioneer and made several noteworthy contributions to the education sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
Dr Denzil Douglas took to his social media to share the update. He wrote that they paused during the Labour Day Parade, to greet and recognize Mother Sylvia Mills of St Paul’s/Sandy Point and wife of the late Charles E Mills. Talking about her husband’s contributions to the country’s development, Dr Douglas noted that Charles E Mills helped transform our Education landscape in St Kitts and Nevis.
