The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, recently received the Vice Chancellors’ Award for excellence in international government and leadership in a recent gala hosted by the American Foundation for University of the West Indies (AFUWI) and the University of West Indies. The Premier of Nevis and Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement was one of the University of West Indies alumni.
American Foundation for University of the West Indies (AFUWI) hosted the event and Gala, during which the Premier recieved his award in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the University of West Indies. Accordingly, Premier Brantley shared that the honour of his receiving the award increased manifolds.
The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, took to his social media account to share his excitement and gratitude on receiving the Vice Chancellors award for excellence in international government and leadership. He wrote on his social media account that he wanted to thank the members of the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI) and my alma mater, the University of the West Indies (UWI), for bestowing upon me the honour.
He further added, in his social media account, that he is truly humbled that my efforts locally and regionally have been recognized in this way. Accordingly, he extended his sincere gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of UWI, Hilary Beckles, for his kind words in giving the award to Premier Mark Brantley.
Further, Brantley. Extended his sincere gratitude to his friend Lyenda Simpson Delp for agreeing to present the award, The Premier’s wife Sharon Brantley and family and friends who travelled from far to join the Nevisian politician in New York. The Premier shared that the event took place on the 75th anniversary of UWI,
Accordingly, Premier Mark Brantley believes that the honour was magnified manifolds. In the same breath, Premier Brantley applauded AFUWI for its indefatigable efforts in raising funds to ensure that students across our region can access tertiary education. I encourage all who can donate and give back to UWI, which is the bedrock upon which our Caribbean civilization is built.
