The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew recently featured in a special interview with the media where he was given the chance to talk about several issues of national importance. The special interview featured several critical discussions regarding the developments that the government seeks to introduce in the federation
The media interaction on March 2, 2023 was the second special interview for Dr Terrance Drew, who hosted a similar session in February. The discussion started with the media at 1:00 PM and covered several critical anouncements.
During the interview Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew announced that the ministry of health officials have started deep cleaning in the Cardin Home. The initiative is being taken up to improve the overall esthetic of the place. Recently, the Cardin Home welcomed ten new assistants to help take care of the elderly patients of the home.
The government is also actively seeking a new place for the construction of the new and modernized JNF General Hospital. Along these lines, Prime Minister Drew recently visited the prospective site for the hospital.
Additionally, Dr Terrance Drew announced during the special interview that the government under his leadership is prioritizing the national health insurance plan for the better development of the people of St Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister shared that focus on healthcare is critical for the development of the people of the country.
Dr Drew also made the announcement that the InterCaribbean Airways is starting flights into The Federation from Barbados and Puerto Rico to St Kitts. The development was previously announced to the people by Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson. The service will start shortly in St Kitts and Nevis.
Under the Poverty Alleviation Programme, the government has made payments to 5,000 PAP applicants. These include:
346 unemployed persons
277-Households with persons with disabilities
1,898-Households headed by seniors (persons 60 years and older)
2,173-Low income employees
Additionally, The government of St Kitts and Nevis is also initiating the process to reduce student loans to 5% of its originally amount. The prime Minister made these critical announcements and discussed ways in which the government can work towards development of the country
